Q: iphone7 and non-apple earphones

There seem to be myriads of bluetooth earphones/earbuds which are not "Apple."  Many have cables (with & without mikes) that might lower the likelihood of losing one (as appears likely with those for the iPhone7).  Many cost a small fraction of the earbuds.  Will the "otherbrand" ones work with the 7?
