Hi, Fearolicious!
Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities. After reading your post, I understand that one of the apps you have installed on your iPhone (for Google) appears darker than the others. You are unable to open this app, and also cannot delete it. I have a lot of different apps on my own iPhone, so I know it is important to be able to manage them; I would be happy to help!
Please give the following steps a try in order, stopping when the issue has been resolved.
- Make sure the app isn't already open in the background. If it is, close it following the instructions here: Force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
- Restart your iPhone using the instructions in the following article: Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
- Make sure your iPhone is running the latest iOS software. The article found here will walk you through updating: Update the iOS software on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
- Try deleting the app under Settings > General > Storage & iCloud Usage > (Storage) Manage Storage.
If it successfully deletes from Settings, re-download the app from the App Store using the steps in this article: Download your past purchases
- Back up your iPhone, then restore it to factory settings. Instructions for backing your iPhone up via iCloud or iTunes cab be found here: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
Once the backup is completed, use the following article to restore the iPhone to factory settings: Use iTunes on your Mac or PC to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings
After restoring, set the iPhone up as a new device (this means without putting your backup onto it, at least temporarily). You can sign into iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, and the iTunes and App Stores using your Apple ID. Then, re-download your Google app, and see if it works as expected.
- If your Google app works as expected after setting up as a new device, you can use the steps in the following article to restore your backup: Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup
Have a good day!
