Q: sent mail history not visible pop account (MacBook Air early 2015. OS El Capitan)

Hope you can help. Still a novice on Mac as i am making the transition from Windows. I have got my Google Mail accounts working fine in the Mail app on my Macbook Air, and also set up my work email which has a POP account. Sends and receives fine, but the only problem is i cannot see emails I sent before I started using the Macbook. So the last couple of years email history is not visible (sent items seem not to have been imported)

    I see that you are missing the sent items emails from the last couple of years in your Mail app. I know how important it is to make sure that you have access to all of your emails, sent and received. I'm happy to assist you with this. 

     

    You mention that your work email uses a POP server. When you use a POP email server, emails that you download into an email application (like the Mail app) are removed from the email server. Whereas Gmail uses an IMAP server, which means that emails sent and received are stored on the server, and you can download them again at any time. 

     

    I would advise to contact the IT department at your work, and see if they can help you recover the sent emails so you can get them imported into the Mail app on your MacBook.

    OK. Many thanks for the reply. i work for myself, so i won't be able to get help from IT. Sounds like I will have to live with this issue.
