New constant mail requests for password
MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4), 2.5 GHz 16MG
The most likely cause may be a temporary problem with the server.
If that does not go away, there may be a problem with your keychain; you may want to delete that password from your keychain and try again.
The problem with that is I'm not using Keychain so i'll wait to see if it clears up on it's own. (hope, pray & swear a bit!)
If you have that password stored so you don't have to enter it every time you access the account, then you ARE using the keychain! That is the feature of OS X that keeps all your passwords.
even if it's not stored in iCloud?

Yes.
If it is not stored in icloud, it is stored in your mac. That is how I have mine setup.
You can run "Keychain Access" to see all the passwords that are stored, and if necessary delete some.
I have had on occasion to do so - sometimes a new password for a mail account doesn't "take", and the solution is to delete the old one from the keychain.
To open Keychain Access, you can just use Spotlight: command-space and start typing Keychain, then press enter.
At exactly the same time as you were replying to the above I was looking at the keychain on my desktop and doing the deletion that you suggested so...thanks.

Late breaking news:
I just got that password verification again
Once is normal, if you just deleted it from the keychain. It is only a problem if it still keeps repeating after that.
Turns out that it was all TWC. I should learn to suspect them first and my setup second. Thank you for the help.
