New constant mail requests for password

I'm, all of a sudden, constantly harangued to enter and verify the very same email password that always worked before. What's going on here is there any way to halt this?

Yes.

If it is not stored in icloud, it is stored in your mac. That is how I have mine setup.

You can run "Keychain Access" to see all the passwords that are stored, and if necessary delete some.

I have had on occasion to do so - sometimes a new password for a mail account doesn't "take", and the solution is to delete the old one from the keychain.

To open Keychain Access, you can just use Spotlight: command-space and start typing Keychain, then press enter.
