Random iPad activation lock

I picked up my iPad 2 and it had the activation lock screen up. This really baffles me since the day before it was working fine.

It says...

"This iPad is linked to an Apple ID. Enter the Apple ID and Password that were used to set up this iPad. (r*****@gmail.com)".

When I enter the correct information it gives me an error message stating...

"r*****@gmail.com cannot be used to unlock this iPad"

When connecting to iTunes I get the same results (see photo below). I also tried recovery mode update and recovery mode restore. when I get to the activation screen I still get the same error.

What could have caused this and how can I get this fixed?

Here is something you can try. You could disable activation lock in iCloud and then setup your iPad again from a back-up.

Go into Find My iPhone from another iOS device or from a web browser on iCloud.com. Tap on your iPad and tap erase. When it is done, or if you don't see erase, tap on remove from account. This will disable Activation Lock and you should be able to set your iPad back up as if it were out of the box.

Hope this helps!

Try Putting Your iPad in DFU mode ( You Can Google it) and restore it via iTunes and wait till the restore process ends. After also you get the same error like this you may have to check whether you have multiple Apple ID's Which Might have been associated with this iPas

and for your info

If You Think your iCloud Login Credentials Are Corect try to login with Find My iPhone App. If you can see your iPad Listed then You May Have to Contact a Nearest Apple Store.

I put my iPad in DFU mode and followed your directions and it still is stuck at the activation lock screen. I have only had one Apple ID and it is not working. I went into Find my iPhone and it was listed, but I have removed it from the account as instructed in another thread. This did not help and now it is not listed as one of my devices.
