Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
I see that you connected to an HDMI display and now the desktop resolution is looking strange. The system probably hasn't reset to the normal resolution, this sounds like a NVRAM reset is in order.
1. Shut down your computer.
2. Press the power button.
3. Immediately press and hold the Command, Option, P and R keys.
4. Continue to hold until you hear the startup chime a second time.
5. Release the keys and let the computer continue to start up.
