Airport Extreme Not Recognized but works

My Extreme has started having a problem of not being recognized in the Utility program but still connects to the internet and allows my devices to connect through it. This, though, is not always the case. Sometimes it just quits. I have to unplug it and restart before it will work again.

I did do monitoring through the utility program and it only dropped out once. but at that point it was no longer recognized and I had to restart it once again.

Any thoughts?

May be you have not updated the software on air port base station suggested article : Update the software on your AirPort base station - Apple Support

Let's start by having you provide us with the exact model number of your AirPort Extreme base station. Also, what is the make & model of the Internet modem that you have the Extreme directly connected to by Ethernet? Are there any other routers in your current network configuration?

Finally, what devices Mac, PC, or iOS (& operating system versions) are you using the AirPort Utility on to manage the base station?
