What's wrong with my iPhone battery?

I'm the owner of an iPhone 6s plus. Usually I get around 2 to 3 days with one charge, before I have to recharge my phone.

Since last week (since I did the last software update) my phone battery has been dying daily. I unplug it at 6 am and by 6 pm the batter charge is down to 6%. The only thing I did on the phone was an hour of Spotify. I closed down the app after using it.

Today I unplugged my phone at 6 am (it was at 100%s). It's 6.30 pm right now, my phone battery is at 8%.

When I go to settings my phone says it's been in stand-by for 12 hours and in-use for 10 hours. That makes 22 hours while my phone has only been unplugged for about 12 hours.

Whenever I charge the phone it even feels super hot and sometimes it feels hot while just sitting in stand-by.

Can anyone help me with this problem?

Hello there, NickRy!

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you are needing help with your battery usage on your iPhone. I know how important it is to be sure the battery is working properly at all times. Check out this article for tips to Maximizing Battery Life and Lifespan. It has some great tips for being sure you are getting the best performance out of your iPhone.

One of the first steps suggested is to update to the latest version of the iOS for the device. Try that first and then check your battery performance to see if there is any difference at all.

Cheers!
