Q: Apple Music not functioning

After updating to the latest version (12.5.1) of Itunes on my mac, I am unable to play anything in my apple music library (i'm a subscriber). Clicking on any album or song takes me to the Browse tab. So far none of the songs I've tried to play have successfully begun playing - the song progress bar just shows the blue loading line.

Any idea about how to resolve this?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, iOS 9.3.5

Restart your Mac then try again.

I've tried restarting both the application and my computer several times to no effect.

Same thing, here. Rebooted, but no change. (I switched from Windows to get away from that kind of nonsense, but that's another story ...)

Verified net - I'm on 1GB up/down verified and sitting on 450mbps WIFI ... Signed out of Apple Music, signed back in.

    Same deal...

Restarting did nothing for me either. When I try to play anything the is not in my library, I get sent to the browse tab and then the little grey spiral runs forever and no music plays.

It seemed to start working for me, too, for a while, but the behavior is back with a twist: now I'm getting at least an error ("Unable to connect to iCloud Music Library").  This was after I signed out of iCloud and the App store completely (a total pain in Sierra, since all my items were removed from the desktop etc) and then rebooted (again).

This has nothing to do with my network, which is the best I've ever had, BTW, and the first thing I check …

[Edit: I did sign back in to iCloud/iTunes/App store ;-)]

The "Spinning Sundial of Death" has stopped for me ... I just get an error. Which is better, I suppose.

Update: Apple Music now works, but my iCloud library is 'unavailable.' Basically, any song I haven't downloaded is unplayable.

Hoping this is yet another one of those Apple issues that quietly goes away (sadly, usually without any explanation or RCA ...)

Yeah, I started getting that icloud music library unavailable error, and after about 20 minutes of that thing started working. it's returned once, but i'd take it as a good sign. and yes, def seems like an error that vanishes silently

    It's all back - *crossing fingers* ...

Do you have a massive music library? I do, and I'm wondering if iTunes updates force rebuilds of XML files etc, which could slow things down.

Anyways, here's hoping it keeps on keepin' on.

I've been having this exact problem since I upgraded a few hours ago. I just quit iTunes and then it will work for awhile, ultimately back to the Browse screen waiting... waiting... Rebooted computer. Same problem.

Yeah, it started working for me for a while, but now it's back to the annoying "Unable to connect to iCloud Music Library" dialog (which clears itself after a 30 second countdown and then promptly reappears - fun).

I'm guessing they have capacity issues - I noticed last night I couldn't add anything new ... thought it would go away.

It seems to work now so hopefully this "resolves itself" in the long term. I get the "unable to connect to music library" window as well. But it plays now so I guess I'm happy?
