Oct 6, 2016 4:16 PM in response to American Psychoby Girshon Rutstein,Sometimes people only offer suggestions that would solve the problem for them, not understanding what other's needs are necessarily.
I agree with that some people do, but not in my case.
Today according to statistics over 50% of people are using the smartphone over the desktop. Therefore my recommendation using the 3rd party EQ could solve let's say 50% of the problem. The desktop display remains unsolved, until the next version of iTunes.
BTW, I use the desktop computer with iTunes 90% and 10% iPhone. Therefore my solution does not solve my own problem, LOL.

Oct 6, 2016 6:33 PM in response to Remy Leroyby quiksilverboy,Yes I agree, and i noticed that if you spell artist: Evenescence or Evanescence iTunes accepts both!... so it stil pays to be cautious. One bug i did find though is Adam Lambert's icon comes up with a "Glee" icon? - i have checked and triple checked the metadata and the file info even to the point of deleting and re-adding and this did not change!.
Also another tip i found, especially when it comes to the automatic download of ALBUM art.., if you are not able to download the album art from Apple, make sure the album name is the same as what the store would have. When i went and updated all my album art to better quality ones, some of the older albums had been remastered on iTunes which caused them to "rename" the album to say that. for example i had Fleetwood Mac's album "Mirage". Because the name in the store was changed to Mirage (Remastered) - it would not accept the download of artwork until i adjusted my album copy to say remastered. After the art download, i deleted the remastered part. - sorry i know thats off topic with the ARTIST icon issue, however i have pulled apart my music library because of these saga.

Oct 7, 2016 6:05 PM in response to tnorrisby Guitarfish,I also noticed the problem around mid September. Found this thread soon after and assumed that now the problem had been identified it would soon get fixed.
Dissapointing to come back 3 weeks later and find 19 pages of comments but no fix from Apple

Oct 9, 2016 4:42 AM in response to tnorrisby abdobelk,I haven't upgraded to Sierra just because of this issue, I don't think I will if it is not fixed.

Oct 9, 2016 5:11 AM in response to abdobelkby .pw,Sorry - but that was the iTunes upgrade and not the upgrade to macOS Sierra.

Oct 9, 2016 7:48 AM in response to .pwby abdobelk,I know, now I'm on El Capitan, if I upgrade to Sierra it will automatically install the latest iTunes which is 12.5.1 I assume.
-
Oct 9, 2016 8:48 AM in response to abdobelkby turingtest2,I believe you get 12.5.0 on vanilla macOS Sierra (which is more like 12.4.3) unless it arrives with auto-updates enabled.

Oct 9, 2016 8:54 AM in response to abdobelkby bogies4,If you upgrade to Sierra, it will load iTunes 12.5.0 (not 12.5.1). And although it has MOST of the new design issues of 12.5.1 (larger album art) it DOES NOT replace your artists thumbnails. They remain the same square album art for each artist. I posted a screen shot back earlier in this thread (on page 13). You just have to remember not to have auto updates on to avoid updating to 12.5.1. This works for me until Apple (hopefully) corrects this

Oct 9, 2016 11:14 AM in response to bogies4by Girshon Rutstein,I am sure the iTunes display artist will be fixed by next "mountain" OS operating system.

Oct 9, 2016 5:10 PM in response to Remy Leroyby shiatt733,Apple, this situation is absolutely pathetic. What is WRONG with you people? You've invested huge amounts of money in music marketing, but you've failed to take care of the simple things that users want. And I say this as someone who worked for Apple....

Oct 9, 2016 6:33 PM in response to tnorrisby Denis Netto,I'm tired of this lack of support from Apple. They are dealing with design issues since Apple Music was launched and the truth is that it's still really bad. I signed up Spotify Premium this week and removed all of my files from Itunes. I suggest everybody does the same. IMHO It has a much better interface and design and the catalog is also huge.

Oct 10, 2016 6:22 AM in response to UpTheVale1876by zufbar,I agree with this point - after upgrading to an iPhone 6 there were so many good things to be happy about (what a great phone and I love the new iOS). iTunes/Music app once again lets us down tho =(

Oct 10, 2016 3:46 PM in response to tnorrisby bomelkr,I don't think Apple is watching these forums, and if they do, then it is a sad portrayal of customer service.
Today I cancelled my Music membership, stopped using iCloud Music, and switched to Spotify. This icon business was driving me crazy, and with all the problems I had with libraries/playlists in my Family setup, it simply wasn't worth it.
-
Oct 10, 2016 4:31 PM in response to bomelkrby Denis Netto,Well, I think they shoud. The front page says "Apple Support Comunities". I also went to spotify, but didn't cancel yet, because of my family plan.

Oct 10, 2016 4:32 PM in response to tnorrisby Girshon Rutstein,I am really puzzled what was the intention of Apple not to display the artist photos in the Itunes. Either they intended more people to download and purchased the songs or it was neglected error on behalf of QA department, it for them to know and for us to decide what to do. So I heard a lot of people are switching to Spotify, that means that if Apple would not solve the issue, they would not solve this problem, they could lose more users.
In my case, I don't really care because I have a thousand CDs and I am enjoying listening to them using my iPhone, where all the artists displayed through 3rd party EQ.
