Q: Artist Photos Missing in iTunes 12.5.1

I've noticed a few artist photos are missing since upgrading to 12.5.1.  Any ideas on how to fix or refresh?  They are mainstream artists, nothing obscure.

Same issue here, on a Mac running OS X 10.11.6 El Capitan.

Almost every artist photos are missing, except I think the few I bought on the iTune Store.

Album illustrations are still there, fortunately.

Hope this will be fixed in the next iTunes release.

this is horrible. So ugly, so not useful. What on earth do Apple employees do that they think is remotely a good idea. I wish i hadn't updated. Now I will have the hassle of seeing how to downgrade iTunes.

Downgrade instructions here, but if you've updated any devices to iOS 10 then I wouldn't advise it.

I'm inclined to agree that most artist images are useless for the task of visually identifying the artist from the image rather than the text. If the feature is going to be there users ought to get an option to choose the image, or at the very least switch to a representative album cover.

This has been a bugbear on iOS for several years for me.

I really dislike obscure promotional photos being used as I often have no idea visually who a group is!

I don't know how much notice Apple take of forums like this but I reckon they do at least take note if you click the provide itunes feedback button.

Absolutely shocking update to iTunes. I like many others have spent many hours carefully tagging and honing my digital collection to appear as I want it to. I loved the way iTunes used to display the artist pics but now I am stuck with the stupid Microphone for nearly all my artists on Macbook, iPhone and iPad. The only things that seem to work correctly are the playlist views so if they can get it right for those then there is absolutely NO excuse for not applying the same logic to the Artists view as well. Come on Apple, you are so much better than this!

Wait till they remove the star rating system. That will be the next devastating omission. How much time did we spend rating all of our songs? It's extremely useful... but judging from iOS 10, it will be soon replaced by a dumbed down Like or Dislike. So mad they removed that from iOS Music app.

I don't mind not having the star rating in mobile, since it's not as easy to see them. But yes, it would be a shame to lose that feature in iTunes.

Exactly the same issue with me - seems to only show iTunes purchased artist thumbnails. I hope that this is just an oversight and not another move by Apple to get users to move over to streaming only...

same problem here and really confused to see what Apple did on this new iTunes.

I mean... what's the point? Making us go on another software?

i'll wait a few days and see what happens... i'm not gonna buy online what i have in CD only to get the cover!

    duuuuh!

Bad,bad, bad decision by Apple.  Many hours now wasted!  If we can't have our Artist images then get rid of the stupid microphone, or, here's an idea, give us a CHOICE.  This change, like so many others, is not an improvement.  I know they read these comments because they deleted my previous reply re this download.  Can't second-guess the "Genius" who gave 12.5.1 the green light!  The sad reality is that these decisions/changes are NEVER ABOUT THE MUSIC!!!  itunes was fine before this update.  It worked fine.....it looked good.  In addition to the issue with the Artists' thumbnails, the album images under ARTIST are too big.  Looks ridiculous.

The idea of only purchased music from iTunes has pictures from that artist is not true. I have several albums that I've purchased from iTunes (Most of my digital music library comes from CDs that I've been purchasing since 1985 and ripped. Only recently have I started buying music via iTunes.) that have no artist image after upgrading to 12.5.1.

What the he-double hockey sticks, Apple? Please fix or give us control to edit the artists' image. That stupid rainbow microphone icon is UGLY. U-G-L-Y.
