10.63 gb of drive is "other"

I have a mid-2012 MacBook Air with flash drive and 4gb of ram. I'm running El Capitan 10.11.3.

For several weeks I keep getting disk full messages. I run both Memory Monitor and Disk Care to keep trash, cases, etc. cleared.

When I check Storage on About This Mac, it shows 10.63 gb as "other."

This weekend I cleared 2 gb of documents. Have tried to figure out how to clear Photos mac memory and still be sure all the photos are on the cloud, but can't seem to do this.

I have run Omni DiskSweeper and it seems a lot of the "other" is in app support or the library. How can I tell which files are safe to delete?

Thanks.

Hello Leatha,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

I understand that you are looking for information on increasing your HD space by deleting unneeded items. This article provides information on how to go about that process. OS X El Capitan: Increase disk space

Take a look at the next article as well. It does a good job of explaining "other" space on your Mac.
