I figured out a work around...(and I totally agree with you, definitely an iCloud issue)

I updated my iPhone, but not my iPad.

iPhone shortcuts--gone. iPad shortcuts--still there.

I go to my iPad and add a shortcut (to the many I already have). After saving the new shortcut on my iPad, ALL my shortcuts (including the new one I just added from my iPad) INSTANTLY appear...without even touching my iPhone! (I already had the shortcuts pulled up on my iPhone)

Anyway, hope that works for you guys.

Hi, I had this just happen to me too and FIXED IT. The text replacements were still listed in the settings but didn't work. I rebooted my phone - no luck. I turned iCloud Drive off and on, like others suggested - and all the text replacements disappeared from the list! I resigned myself to reentering all of them. I entered one and then all of the others magically appeared! Hope this works for you too.

Oh my god, I did it! Okay, here's how (I don't know if each step if necessary):

1. Go into Settings > General > Keyboard > Text Replacement

2. Only the default one was shown for me

3. Go back to Keyboard (I had all switches enabled)

4. Turn off Auto-Capitalisation, Auto-Correction and "." Shortcut

5. Immediately turn off your phone without leaving the page

6. Turn it back on

7. Go into Settings > General > Keyboard

8. Turn all switches back on (wait some seconds?) and go into Text Replacement

All of my ~200 text replacements re-appeared!

Steps I tried before:

  • signing out of iCloud multiple times - didn't work
  • adding/deleting new ones on the affected device - didn't work
  • adding/deleting new ones on a different device - didn't work

I nearly gave up... And now they are back, yay!

Apple should definitely add a "sync now" button or enable "pull to refresh" for this list.

Matthew, did you sync your iPhone with a Mac/iMac? Can you still see the Text Replacements on the Computer?

I'm asking because i had the same problem (actually it happens every time i upgrade any Beta version to GM)

If you have the Text Replacements on the Mac, please follow these steps:

1)

On the Mac, open System Preferences > Keyboard > Text. These are the Text Replacements which will be synced across the devices. Adjust them to your likes. Then, highlight all of them (ctr a) and pull them to the desktop. This results in creating a file called "Text Substitutions.plist".

2.)

back to System Preferences > Keyboard > Text: delete ALL Text Replacements (just hit the "delete" button)

3.)

sign out of your iCloud Account on ALL OTHER devices than your main Computer (like iPhone, iPad, MacBook... you name it).

4.)

on your iOS devices (after logging out of iCloud) press and hold start and home button - the display will turn off - keep holding the buttons - when the Apple Logo appears you can let go. shut the device down and put it by side.

as for your secondary macOS devices, just power them off and pull the wire.

5.)

then sign out of your iCloud account on your main computer. power off the computer. pull the wire for 5 minutes or so.

6.)

after 5 minutes power up the computer, log into your iCloud account (only on the main computer), then go to System Preferences > Keyboard > Text verify that all text is gone (if not restart the procedure with point 2) and drag and drop the "Text Substitutions.plist" from the desktop back to the Text window.

7.)

re-sign in one device after the other. check if the Text Replacements get synced. If not try disabling and re-enableing iCloud Drive several times, followed by a reset explained in point 4.

This was the only way i got my many Text Replacements back BUT... so far, for me, it only works between my iMac and iPhone, both my MacBook and iPad are out of sync. Same Account, same OS versions, different Text Replacements... I filed feedbacks and support files with Apple, still waiting for an answer - yet i am sure it is a problem with iCloud. If we would be able to have full access to iCloud we'd be able to delete the "culprit files" and all would work like a charm. Yet, lets wait and see, if at least you get your Text Replacements saved resp back...

On my iPhone 6 iOS 10 it is working.

On my iPad Pro 12 inch iOS10 it is not working, funny the "On my way!" Is working, the rest of my own created text replacements NOT.

VERY strange that some things are not working on the iPad Pro 12 inch, the top model of Apple, while iPhone is working fine. There are more things which only works on the iPhone and not on te iPad pro.
