Q: iOS 10 Mail delete all function?

I Have just installed the new ios10 update and for some reason have lost the delete/trash all function in the mail app.

The delete button is greyed out and when you select all, you can only flag a post of mark as read/unread.

Am I missing something?

iPhone 6, iOS 10

You cannot be referring to iOS 10, because that is not true.  The ability to do that no longer exists, an arbitrary programming choice made by Apple without considering customer needs.  Once again, the "Delete All" in blue as you state does not exist.

It is no longer there, except in the Trash folder.  I get lots of mail to my Junk Folder and can no longer just delete everything at once.  Now I have to go through each item to delete it.  PLEASE BRING BACK THE DELETE ALL FUNCTION!

I tried this a few days ago, and YES it worked! Yesterday, however,,Apple gave me a new iPhone 5c to replace mine which needed a new battery.  Today, I tried the 'delete all' workaround (several times) but Siri kept interrupting-any suggestions for that problem?

Here's one change they didn't make by mistake: in the Australian version of iOS10, they changed "Trash" to "Bin". Now there's cultural sensitivity for you!

I DID do an intense search as to "What happened to the TRASH ALL button?"  It is NOT in iOS10.  I even downloaded the ios10 user manual, and there is NO listing for a TRASH ALL button.  They put it in on ios9, I believe, and it was a welcome blessing.....WHO wants to INDIVIDUALLY  hundreds of emails every day!!!???  What coding MORON did this?

Recent update did NOT include a fix for this  intentional omission.  Evidently Apple doesn't want to hear our voices of complaint, as issued in feedback.

There are two work-arounds in this thread. One is the procedure for iOS9. It doesn't work in iOS10. The Mark As Read/Hold the Move button (Steve CW and several others) is clunky but it does work with iOS10.

This is a serious regression/defect in iOS 10.  It's so bad that I've stopped using my iPhone and iPad for my home e-mail account due to the large amount of spam I get.   I'm back to MS Outlook, which has a fairly decent spam filter.

Why the heck would Apple decide to REMOVE functionality in iOS?    This is the sort of crap IBM used to pull.

I seriously douby any of these apple coders use the mail app themselves, if they did they would never remove the delete all functions....morons indeed.

This is false. While the "Delete All" option is still available in the Trash folder, the "Trash All" option has been purposely removed from all other folders in the Edit context of the iOS 10 Mail app. This is a bad move for Apple.

Here is the real issue:  the ios 10 upgrade is different on different iphone models.  I have a 6+ and am also angry because the Trash ALL option is gone and the workaround posted MANY times isn't available to me at all.  However, my boyfriend has and iphone SE and his ios 10 upgrade DID NOT REMOVE the Trash All option!

I never knew that all iphones did not get the same features in upgrades, but his Trash All option is still there.  Mine is not!

Check for yourself with someone who has a different iphone model and see if this function is still there.  It IS there on his SE.

I Think it is safe to say after reading your post and others, that once ios10 was downloaded and installed, SOMETHING got corrupted.  That's why so many people have so many variations of what and how to delete numerous emails.  I don't have a DELETE ALL or a TRASH ALL in my Trash folder....others do!

i EXPECTED to see the fix for this in the last update the end of last week.  Well.....NO- it was NOT addressed!
