Q: web error-virus?

Hello, When I was on the Internet I received a warning that my mac has been blocked and if I don't call in 5 minutes a number (toll free) I will be blocked etc. The source was weberror.com . It said that my Facebook, my card number, my photos are hocked and I must call immediately at Mac support. Also I checked the number given at the pop up window and the number given on the official Apple page and it is not the same.

It is my first macbook so I don't know how macs work and I don;t know if I have to consider it seriously or just surpass it..

It is a scam to frighten you into revealing privacy information or your credit card.

If you are in your browser, force quit it (option + command + Esc keys). Then on relaunch of the browser, hold down the shift key. Clear your browsing history, cookies, etc., and if you have the optional Developer menu enabled, also clear your browser cache. Don't visit that same website again, as it sound like a scam site.

Here is a rule of thumb. The legitimate Apple will never pop up stuff on your browser, never tell you that you have malware, or a virus, or in any other way attempt to inject their presence into your browsing session. Today, you have to be extra vigilant to avoid clicking anything on non-mainstream web pages.

Please read Phony "tech support" / "ransomware" popups and web pages for a description of, and the solution to, this common scam.
