The software has no high demands, read the min.specs at AppStore ...
What the best MB is for YOUR needs, nobody can answer, as you haven't told us anything about your sources, deliverables, projects etc.

Final Cut Pro X - Technical Specifications
Setting a budget is always a good place to start.
Video editing requires screen space so 15" would be a better choice over 13" IMO.
Also editing is best done with a fast external drive formatted to MAC Os Extended for storing your media.

Sep 13, 2016 11:56 PM in response to BJ1600by Repdev,I would advise an Macbook Pro 15" for the next reasons:
-15" display (More room to play with)
-CPU is quadcore with hyper treading just to speed things up a little
-Good cooling the two fans do a terrific job at keeping temps under control, trust me, you don't want your internals at high temps all the time.
-Decent useful IO
Hope this helps with your decision.

Sep 14, 2016 4:29 AM in response to BJ1600by BenB,I've taught FCP for over a decade, seen all version run on a wide variety of Mac configurations in a great deal of different post-production environments. I have to say video editing does in fact have high demands, higher than most any other off the shelf application type. By far!
I have to stress the 15" MBP, 16 MB RAM minimum. Apple says 4 (8 to edit 4K), but that's minimum to launch the app, not do any serious work, and is a joke. I've yet to see someone survive editing with only 8GB RAM. They always end up with 16 and being MUCH happier. If you get into editing like, you'll start doing larger and more complex projects. You'll want the power. Largest system drive you can get, too, SSD. Makes all the difference in the world to video editing. When your projects get serious, you'll also need a fast external drive. USB 3.0 or Thunderbolt. Yeah, GPU in anything besides 15" MBP is very underpowered for video editing.
