Sep 13, 2016 3:37 PM in response to Richiebcnby FoxFifth,If you have Apple menu > System Preferences > iCloud > iCloud Drive turned on, be aware that everything on iCloud Drive also maintains a local copy on your Mac and is consuming space there.
If you have iCloud Photo Library turned on, that also keeps a local copy. The local copy can potentially consume less space than the original if you have Photos > Preferences > iCloud > Optimize Mac Storage turned on.

Sep 14, 2016 1:01 AM in response to FoxFifthby Richiebcn, hum very interesting, and something I did not know
and thanks by the way
is there anyway not to have a local copy, obviously I want to keep everything in icloud rather than have everything on local drive, as with 128gb you run out of space quick
So ideally anything I put in icloud would only be in icloud and not on local drive
or any other tips would be great

Sep 14, 2016 12:20 PM in response to Richiebcnby dwb,★HelpfulFor your purposes another disk tool will be useful. There are a number of free ones: OmniDiskSweeper is a good one. Devon Technology’s Easy Find can be found at the App Store.

Sep 14, 2016 12:20 PM in response to FoxFifthby FoxFifth,★HelpfulThe next release of OS X (Sierra) which is coming next week has an "optimized" option for iCloud Drive where it will "automatically keep rarely used files in iCloud" and make them available on demand. See the Optimized Storage section of http://www.apple.com/macos/sierra/

Sep 14, 2016 12:20 PM in response to FoxFifthby Richiebcn,Thanks to all
However, now when I try to go to system preferences and change my iclould settings it asks me for my password - which is fine I enter it, I can see that it shows me the storage information of what I have left (i recently upgraded to 200gb) but then it appears to log me out and says verify the Apple ID password for ...... I enter it and then it asks again ;(
I am doing something wrong?
thanks again guys
