update to ios 10 went well but playing around within new imessge i discovered that while the native apps works as intended in imessage - music, recent, #images etc - other apps are not working within imessage - eg espn, drafts, opentable etc - the icon shows on the imessage screen when I go into the apps section but it never updates with any content.
anyone else experienced or got ideas on what to do ?

That happened to me until I went to the App store and noticed those very apps had updates to be downloaded. After downloading the update and opening the app itself (not in messages, but the actual App) I went back to messages and they worked just fine!

I had already updated everything but it got me thinking - most of these apps - ESPN, drafts etc were updated to the new version before i downloaded and installed ios 10. So i tried uninstalling ESPN and then reinstalling - it worked - now I have to go through and reinstall a number of apps that had been updated for imesage

I have this same issue... I also got Opentable to work as well as ESPN....
All the others just display the app logo and no content... Anyone else have this or a fix??
So you after upgrading to iOS 10 you need to download every app that has an iMessage app with it....
Doesnt work for me.. I tried this with Periscope and the iMessage app for periscope stil just shows the logo

I did about 20 or 30 app updates before 3.00pm when I updated ios and it seems that if they had the ios 10 update in the app then imessage will not work - I am having to delete and reload all of those apps on each device - a real pain
if the ipad was updated after you downloaded and installed ios 10 you are fine - just the apps updated before the ios 10 install
Thos needs a patch now. What happens on 3 or 4 days from now when people get around to updating to iOS 10 and all these app updates happened for the, either manually or automatically??? The iMessage apps will not work and there will be a lot more of them by then.
I, not looking forward to going through about 20 apps on 3 devices of reinstalls to get these imessage apps working.
i womder if the app developer puts out a future update will that make the iMessage work? Or it needs a clean install?

I have this same issue too. It seems that the iMessage app only gets fully installed if it's been downloaded after you updated to iOS 10. It's going to be painful for some apps (like games) where I don't want to lose progress, but I'd like the stickers to work.

3 Apps that just show up as icons in iMessage - including imdb which is surely a common app?
uninstalled and reinstalled all 3..... Still not working in imessage - they just show up as an unresponsive icon.

I just updated to iOS 10.0.1 and my iMessage app doesn't have the #images or music on the App section of the screen. Any thoughts on what is wrong? Everything else seems to be working.
I've got a bunch of apps that require authentication, and BTW, I'm using Google Authenticator for most of them. I deleted and reinstalled IMDB and now it works, but I guess I need to wait for either the others to get another update or Apple to push out a fix.
