iOS 10 - Emoji's not appearing in predictive text

Updated to iOS 10 today. Still playing around with it and trying to figure things out. However one thing that a few friends of mine can do that my iPhone won't is display an emoji in the predictive text section once you enter a word that has an associated emoji.

I've tried disable/enable predictive text, resetting text dictionary and adding and removing keyboards and languages like suggested online. Also tried changing these settings and hard/soft resetting the phone. No dice.

Now I'm SOL cause I wiped my dictionary clean that I've been building up for some time. Back to the auto-correct "duck" if you know what I mean 🙂

A couple colleges at work can get emoji's in predictive text while myself and another person cannot.

This feature does not seem to work anywhere in the phone, iMessage, Notes, Email ... etc.

Anyone else having this issue reading this?

I'm using an iPhone 6S Plus.

Thanks

Tim,

I don't know if you got your issue resolved yet or not. If you send yourself multiple emojis it will start to populate them in the suggestion bar. I had tried everything too and came across the thread telling you to send to yourself. I just sent them to one of those automated text I had received. They started to populate after a couple of messages. I still don't know how they are getting the phone numbers and email addresses to show though.

Reading the below article it appears that this is a 'learned behaviour'.

I have been using the iOS 10 Beta for some time and this seems to be a gradual thing. My Wife's iPhone 6 freshly updated today does not offer it (yet?)

We are going to keep using the Emoji on the 6 and see what happens.

I started using the Beta what seems to be a long time ago but from what I remember it did take a while for Emoji suggestions to appear. As I said we are going to perceiver with the iPhone 6 (at least till Friday when her 7 should arrive) and see what happens. I suppose the 7 will work along the same lines so I would expect that to also learn the Wife's Emoji usage behaviour as she uses it.

Interesting. I just replied to an email and a text using the Apple example "I'm available at" and I got my free time appear on the suggestion bar. Pretty cool.

But using the Apple example "good to see you today. John's number is" didn't offer any suggestions. (I have a lot of friends and colleagues called John so I would have expected to see at least 1 number).

I frequently use iMessage and email to make meeting appointments but as I said I don't give others info out so still rings true that is is learning behaviour.

Very strange. I just tried to get my own info into both iMessage and email and it wont offer that either!

I tried the "I'm available at" phrase using mail app, but did not get any free time popped up. I dont use email application for setting up meeting and stuffs. I think then its learning behavior. Over the course of time it will suggest the stuff based on your reply pattern. Let me know if you find any other info regarding this. All other feature are fine and clearly usable. Only this one is the tricky one as this depends on usage of the application.

I follow what you're experiencing - just make sure you type your message then tap the emoji keyboard - all replaceable words should appear in yellow/orange and then tap to replace - all explained here : Use emoji on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support if not working as expected contact Apple Support.

Sorry - this should then prompt emojis to appear in the predictive section of the QuickType keybaord from that point forward.
