This being the "Using iPhone" forum, the instructions are meant to be used on an iPhone, not a Mac.
Screenshots on a Mac can be taken by pressing the shift + command + 3 key for a full screen screenshot, or shift + command + 4 if you want to be able to select a specific area,
More details here:
I know how to take a screenshot... I've taken many... but now I have an iPhone 7 (plus) and IT'S A PAIN! 😠 Siri appears (even if I deactivate it....) or the iPhone enters in the sleep mode. Sometimes I have to try 10 times! It's very tricky to press both buttons at the same time, because the home button is now so stupid. Who took that bad decision?
If Siri is appearing then you're holding the home button down for too long. Just click both and release immediately.
The easiest way I've found to do this, is to hold the iPhone in my left hand, put my left thumb on the home button, and use my right thumb to click the power / sleep button at the same time. It's not all that difficult really.
There's no holding down or pressing for any length of time, just click both quickly at the same time and release.
There is nothing wrong with the home button, or functionality of the Screenshot feature on an iPhone 7.

Press the home button and power button consecutively. You'll notice the screen with disappear a little bit to show you just screenshot the page.
Il does not work with iOS 10.
Same way screenshots have always been taken.
Press the home and power/sleep buttons together and quickly release them.
The screen should flash indicating a screenshot has been taken
works just fine with mine and I have iOS10...
Try rebooting.
iI'm having the same problem, it either locks the screen or goes to the home screen.
First press Home Button.
Than press fast (before siri appears) the power button

Actually I'm finding that it doesn't work on ios10 either, and neither does rebooting (holding down both buttons). That just starts Siri. Switching off works but doesn't cure the problems.
Actually scrap that. It does work but you have to literally press both buttons simultaneously for a screenshot. Arguable more fiddly, or less likely to cause accidental screen shots. Reboot also works but you have to keep the buttons pressed even when siri appears.
As i said:

It works!
Opps.
