I was remiss to add that this is specific to my iPad Air 2.  My iPhone 6 Plus still works using the original sequence (hold power/sleep button and then press home).  Seems it varies by device/model.

I have an iPad Mini 2. Prior to iOS 10, I could press the power button, hold it, then press the home button.

With iOS 10, I have to press the power and home buttons simultaneously.

Not working for me too. Didn't have this problem before I updated the iOS. All these suggestions doesn't work for me. Still in search for a solution.

Mary, you just gave your email address  everyone on the planet who reads this thread. I recommend that you take this post down and go through the address change mechanism that this site has.

I have the iPhone 5s and when I upgraded to iOS 10 I was also unable to take screenshots as I used to. I used to be able to hold down the power/sleep button and then click the home button to take a screenshot. I think a lot of users used to do it that way too. With iOS 10, I can only take a screenshot by holding down both buttons at the same time and then releasing them simultaneously. It's harder to do and definitely a change from how it could be done before.
