The behavior in iOS 10 does seem different to me. My attempts at quantifying it have eluded me, but my attempts at taking screenshots fail more frequently on multiple devices since I upgraded.

    Hi

Go to settings accessibility turn Assistive touch to on click on that

Then create new gesture click on that then you get a list click on screen shot .

I can only use one hand so this works for me.

    Cheers

    Brian

You have to press Home + Power briefly (release quickly)

To take a screenshot: 1) Tap (don't hold) the Home + Power buttons simulataneously

                                       2) The screen should flash white to indicate a screenshot

If you hold it too long your device will shut down, and it will flash blue just before turning off, to indicate this

Screenshots - I also had a hard time taking screenshots with my iPhone 6 after I installed iOS 10. First, I thought something had changed and went to internet to see what was happening.  Everybody was saying that the classic way to do it remained, but it was not working for me. Whenever I tried, I kept activating Voice Control. Then I read repeatedly that iOS 10 is much more sensitive than previous iPhone operating systems. I learned the timing to take the screenshot, is now more critical than before. So I kept practicing and finally I catched it. You need to Press and hold the Power button on the right side, and click the Home button, at the exact same time. This is important: exact same time.

Alternative Screenshot procedure, with IOS 10, using Accessibility and AssistiveTouch:

    1. Go to Settings.
    2. Touch General, Accessibility and AssistiveTouch.
    3. Turn AssistiveTouch ON. (critical)
    4. Touch Customize Top Level Menu. You will see the AssistiveTouch icon, "floating" over six items to select, including Screenshot.
    5. Touch Screenshot. You are ready to take a screenshot.
    6. Now, to take a screenshot, just touch the "floating" AssistiveTouch icon, and you will see a black and white small screen with six items.
    7. Touch Screenshot, and you are done; that is all. Screenshot is already taken. Look for it and verify.

I hope this note is useful. Let me know any correction for the described procedure.

Go to Setting > General > Accessibility > Home Button > Rest Finger to Open, turn this on.

Once this feature is turn on, taking screenshot is the same way as per previous IOS.

Totally agree. I've taken screen shots for years & given the difficulty taking them with iOS 10 I was convinced that they had come up with a better way. I've had to repeat the procedure 5 or 6 times on average for the screensh to work. There is a flaw of some type - timing? in the new iOS. They need to come up with a better system.

That didn't work for me.  Pressing exactly simultaneously helped, but very touchy.

    Two ways

1 press home button exactly simultaneously as the exit button

2 install assistive touch through general/Accessibility/ toggle on assistive touch.

    Much easier too
