I Agree.  A terrible upgrade. I miss the slide function to open, screenshots are difficult. No need for the momentary slide toe right function, so i have no items in there.

Apple if you go om like this i Will never buy A new iPhone.

ALso siërra installed on mac. Al kind of problems.   I bought an expensive machine with el capitan and now I am stuck with this. Waste of money. So sad

I've had Apple for years.  Very little issues with any upgrade till now.  The screen freezes multiple times a day with rebooting is the worst. I slowed down the button speed to the slowest available response under General, Then Home.  I made sure my volume was not on mute.  Under the older iOS, you hit the on/off, then the home.  Now you have to hit them simultaneously.  Quick and fast. I hope you get help with your issues soon.

It wasn't working for me, either, until I held the buttons down for about 3 seconds.  Try that.

It brings up voice control now instead of making a screenshot

    I have an iPhone 6+ S

It's trickier to do with that 3D touch turned on.   Gently hold the power button and quickly add the home button.

    Don't press hard.

you have to do it quickly - if you hold it too long it just brings up Siri.

I have taken many screen shots from iOS 6 to iOS 9.3, but it does not work the same way in iOS 10.02. toy use to be ablue to press and hold the Sleep/Wake button then the Home button. Now you must press both simultaneously.

Page 391 of the iOS 10 iBooks Manual says the following.

“To capture what’s displayed on your screen, simultaneously press and release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons. The screenshot is added to the Photos tab in Photos, and you can also view it in the Screenshots album or All Photos album (if you’re using iCloud Photo Library).”

the trick is either to push simultaneous or push the powerbutton first and then the home button!!!

    Thank you Banadula! Best answer.

All you who have NOT (yet) experienced this problem, and therefore felt it would be somehow helpful to respond as if we're all just dimwits who've lost the "skill" of pressing two buttons: It's not. Helpful. Take Apple's advice and Think Different~

IOS 10.0.2 on my iPad Pro 12", a screenshot of any movie content played from the Videos app shows a black box where the image of the video should be. Same on my iPhone SE (updated to ios 10.0.2)

IOS 9.3.5 on my iPad 3rd gen does not have this black screenshot problem. Even with video-in-video, only the playing video is black, while the rest of the screen is captured just fine.

Screenshots of videos I make, played from the Photos app on any of the 3 devices does not have this problem.

I'm certainly sorry if my response of using the home button and power button made you feel as if you were being called a dimwit.  That was certainly not my intent.

The method I relayed is what still works on my iPhone 6 with iOS 10.  Sorry it does not work for you.  But thank you for so kindly pointing out the "Assistive Touch" feature.  On my phone is is Settings->General->Accessibility.

Perhaps if you would keep your device information up to date, we would know which phone you were having problems with.

    Cheers, and bless your heart.

    Greetings,

I had problem with this on my 6s Plus too with iOS 10.0.2.

However, upon reading here (http://osxdaily.com/2016/09/26/take-screenshot-ios-10/) it works well with me now.

I found on my iPad Air 2 that both Home and On/Off must be pushed quickly SIMULTANEOUSLY! The old way was more forgiving. I made it work twice so far.

    That's cute.

Here's the thing: we're talking about a function I use regularly. Then after a major update, SUDDENLY functionality was only sporadically successful. Obviously I'm not alone; many other users have reported a similar problem. The fact it hasn't been experienced by EVERY user is certainly not an indication that it is a shared hallucination. You can keep trying to insult people who are having the problem — who knows? maybe that will culminate in a solution somehow.

The Assistive Touch alternate method is a temporary remedy that works when the primary method fails. This is helpful.

My device is completely up-to-date. I don't know why I need to specify that when the topic at hand is a problem I too have experienced arising after the most recent update, but there you have it.

Oftentimes, when I don't have any salient information to share, I just say nothing. "I don't know" is also quite acceptable.
