Why when I send imessage effects to my friend, he can see them, but when he sends them to me, they appear as words?

When he send an effect back, it doesn't appear. It just says, (sent with Slam Effect) or whatever the effect is. How do I fix this?

I am having the same problem. I cannot send or receive any screen effects. At first I thought it may have been because I do not have 3D touch on my iPhone 6. It does not matter how long I hold down the send arrow, it does not give me the option of sending as a screen effect. When someone sends me a message with a screen effect, it says "(sent with slam effect)".

I noticed that when I was sitting in front of my Mac and testing all this stuff out that many times the message that had the effect that were sent to me would show up on the Mac first. In this case my phone, which I updated to iOS 10, did not get the affect (Slam or whatever). But, if I quit Messages on my Mac and had someone send me a message with an affect then it would display correctly on my phone.

I was having the same exact issue. If something was sent with "Slam", it will send the text, with a text following saying (Sent with Slam). It happened with many different things. After a while of searching and finding nothing, I finally had someone send another message. It finally worked and sent the animations. I didn't do anything to it. It's almost like it had to take a little while to register with other iPhones that mine was updated to iOS 10. I'm not sure if that makes sense. But all I can really say is be patient, and it could fix itself soon. Somebody may have a better answer than that. I'm just speaking from my own experiences! Good luck!

I found a solution to my problem:

Apparently, there's an easy fix for users that can't seem to get Invisible Ink to work—you may have "reduce motion" turned on. Simply access your settings, tap "general," then accessibility" and select "reduce motion." Switch it off and return to your Bubble Effect and you should see the effects, including Invisible Ink, work like a charm.
