Q: iOS 10 Music App Sorting

While i have never been exactly impressed with the sort options inside the music app, it seems they have gotten worse with the update.

I would like to sort by Album Year under Artist. Is that possible or are we just doing the bare minimum?

Very disappointed that this update has reduced the ease of use for this app. Playing music from my library is what I use the most on my iphone. I have one artist with over 90 albums...the new large icons make it difficult to scroll through them now. I am so used to seeing them them grouped by year that the new alphabetic only order is initially anyway very confusing. All the other functions to manage the queue are still there and I have no problrm getting used that...its the disappearance  of options that I hope Apple will address with a future update.

I just want to add, of course Apple needs to put back sorting by year in the Music app. This should not be hard to to. Unfortunately the Music app has been getting worse over time. Oversized graphics and text, and now the sorting is worse to.

My and others "solution" using the album sort field is in iTunes of course not really a solution, only a workaround until (hopefully) Apple fixes this. For those, like me, who desperately want collections by year, and find the effort worthwile. I fully understand if not everyone finds this satisfactor.

In that sense it is unfortunate that Apple recommends my answer without acknowledging that the problem is a removed functionality to begin with. And an unnecessary change at that.
