will playing video games on my macbook pro lead to severe RAM problems?

My macbook pro seems to have a problem with RAM as kernel_task is consistently using 9 gb. It is a very good computer and cost about $3,000.00 including upgrades. I want to keep playing video games on this computer, but if they are damaging my computer, I am willing to stop.
