Q: Becoming a USA iPhone Support Carrier

How does an AT&T MVNO become an iPhone support Carrier?

Boss Cellular is a Multi-Carrier MVNO that operates on all (4) major US networks:

  • Boss Cellular (CDMA) uses the "Red Network".
  • Boss Cellular (GSM-A) uses the "Blue Network".
  • Boss Cellular (GSM-T) uses the "Pink Network".
  • Boss Cellular (PCS) uses the "Yellow Network".

With newer AT&T iPhone devices, the MMSC settings can not be updated manually.

For MMS messaging to function on an MVNO, the MMSC URL must be updated to:

I know you can unlock an AT&T iPhone as long as it's paid off, etc. but we're interested in making Boss Cellular (GSM-A) an iPhone Support Carrier so the carrier can inject the profile over the air when a GSM-A SIM card is activated and inserted into an iPhone.

We've got the possibility of selling and activating over 1,000 AT&T iPhones if we're able to give them MMS messaging on the GSM-A plans.  If we can't get the MMS messaging to work on iPhone, we'll have to choose to either sell the companies Android devices or activate them on one of the other 3 networks, (neither of which is preferred because AT&T has the best coverage in that part of the USA).

We've created a device configuration profile that can be installed via WiFi but the MMSC URL can't be changed using the profile either: boss-cellular.com/BossCellular.mobileconfig

Any recommendations would be great!
