Sep 14, 2016 11:42 AM in response to rstandi1by Joseph_S.,Hi rstandi1,
Welcome to Apple Support Communities!
I see that when your boyfriend sends you a digital touch message, you only receive static images. When you send a Digital Touch message, your boyfriend can see it fine. I know how important it is to make sure that you can both use and enjoy the Digital Touch features in iOS 10. I have something that I would like you to try.
Since you mentioned that you both are using iOS 10, you both should be able to send Digital Touch messages to each other. Please use the following article and make sure that your boyfriend is following the correct steps to send a Digital Touch message:
Use Digital Touch on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
Best Regards.

Sep 14, 2016 11:56 AM in response to rstandi1by CreightonDippel,I have the exact same problem!
A few of us at my office all updated our phones. When I send a digital touch message to them, they are able to see the full animation. Whenever anyone send's one to me, I just have a static image as well. The only possible answer I have seen is that the "Reduce Motion" needs to be turned off. I have since turned my off which now allows me to use the effects in a text message. But I still do not receive any animation or digital touch.. When someone sends a message to me using a text effect, it will show on my screen as (sent with Loud Effect) or sent with Slam Effect). I have updated to the current software and unable to find a fix. Please help!!

Sep 16, 2016 12:24 AM in response to rstandi1by j0nny,I had this same issue after upgrading to iOS 10. Overnight, the phone prompted me to "Update carrier settings" and now it works. I don't know if the two things are related, but it does seem to make sense.

Sep 16, 2016 12:38 PM in response to rstandi1by finrach,Hi, I had the exact same problem between my wife's iPhone and mine after upgrading - her's to me animated/mine's to her were a static image. I restarted both phones and that fixed it. This might have been a fluke.
