Q: WiFi not Working
About a year and a half ago we bought a new Mac and the Time Capsule (TC) to go with it. I tried to set it up initially and looking back on it I do not think it ever worked properly. I say that because we got a new modem, without a router since the Time Capsule has one in it, and we cannot connect to wifi. I have an Ethernet connection to the TC and so I can get online that way, but the WiFi is not working. Last night I went through and set it up and the WiFi was working, but today it is no longer working and I cannot get it to start again.
The WiFi indication signal says that I am connected, on my Mac, and on our phones, but when you disconnect from data it no longer works. This is incredibly frustrating as I do not want to have to go back to a rental modem/router from our cable company.
We just upgraded to OS X El Capitan 10.11.6
When it worked last night I set everything up from scratch. But I do not feel as though I should have to do that every time I need to use the internet. I also tried creating a wifi network with a custom DNS but that did not work either.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Unbelievable!
I am so embarrassed but figure I would update in case anyone else did the same thing.
When I set it up 1.5 years ago I must have switched ethernet cables. The Ethernet cable from the modem was connected to the LAN port, and the Ethernet cable from the mac was connected to the WAN. Once I put the modem cable to the WAN everything worked fine.
Sometimes you just have to go back to square one.
