Ipad won't turn on

It is fully charged. I only stopped using it for a few minutes, when I tried to turn it back on it wouldn't turn on. I have put it back on charge but there is just a black screen still. Can anyone give me an idea of what the problem may be or do I just need a new one. Thanking you.
