Q: iOS 10 Update
This isn't so much a question as it is some complaints about the new iOS 10 update.
Now, I had no idea that there was a new iOS update but when I woke up this morning, it did that thing where it kind of forces it on you so, I rather reluctantly agreed and let it update my phone. I actually thought it was another security update until I actually read what was going on (my fault).
Anyway, after updating, I was horrified. I have no idea how some of the design choices got through but they sure did.
Let's start off with the home screen. The home screen has now three sections to it. The middle section is where you get notifications (missed calls, text messages etc.), the right screen is now the camera (I actually quite like that instead of having to faff around with bringing the camera up from the bottom of the screen like in iOS 9) and then the left screen is something that seems completely and utterly pointless. It's like a Widget section but it looks clunky, I don't really give a a rat's backside about it. It's basically the same as when you would bring the screen down to see your notifications in iOS 9. But the thing that really bugs me about it is the locking system. I'm so used to unlocking the phone by swiping to the right but I get that absolute garbage Widget section. If I could get rid of it, great, but I have no idea how to. And to unlock the phone, you now have to press the home button. It seems to be super unresponsive when you try and unlock it (my iPhone 6S is less than 6 months old so it's not the phone).
My biggest gripe with the new update is the update on the music player. How old do you think people using iPhones are now? 75 year old people? The fonts are HUGE, they are ugly and the layout is just so poor. The layout on iOS 9 was the best they've had since the original iPods. I quite like listening to specific songs (I don't use playlists cause I have so many songs on my iPhone so it seems pointless) and I know what these songs are called. So, I go onto songs to go and look for a track that I want to listen to. Instead of having the songs listed in alphabetical order, it's basically the same layout as iTunes so that it actually lists the artists in alphabetical order and then it just shows songs like it does in iTunes.
It also (I don't remember this being the case in the last iOS) constantly asks you to turn on your location. I live in China and I don't want people here being able to check up where I am all the time (they can do but I don't want to make it THAT easy for them). It's such a pain. I don't want you to know where I am, thanks.
I'm still looking through the new update but I think it's absolute kak (so far). I'm sure many people will disagree me but everyone has their own opinion.
Thank you for listening!
