Home app not working with wired Apple TV (tvOS 10)

Having an issue with the new Home app on an iPhone 6S with iOS 10 via a 4th gen Apple TV on tvOS 10. I have my Apple TV connected to my router via ethernet and I'm not able to use to use the Home app's functionality when my iPhone is connected to LTE. When I unplug the ethernet and put my Apple TV on WiFi everything works fine and when both are on WiFi everything works fine. Is there a reason this is happening and how can I use the new Home app with a wired Apple TV?
