Q: I am trying to get an app for a class but can't because it is from an unidentified developer. How can I adjust my security preferences so I can download the app onto my computer?

I am trying to get an app that is required for one of my classes but it is from an unidentified developer so my security is not letting me download it. How can I adjust my app store security so I can get the app?

Be sure that the app is the one that you mean to download, as there may be infectious fakes.

As long as it is what you need, go to System Preferences>Security & Privacy>General. In there is the option to reduce the installation security of your computer.

Once you install the new software, I advise resetting the security to what it was set at so that the computer remains protected.

Control-click it and choose to open it.
