Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. It's my understanding Apple Pay isn't an option when double-clicking the Home button. I know accessing Apple Pay from a locked screen can make everyday use so helpful. I am happy to help get this resolved with you.
First I recommend restarting your iPhone. This can resolve many unexpected behaviors. Follow the steps below if needed.- Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.
- Drag the slider to turn your device completely off.
- After the device turns off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again until you see the Apple logo.
Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If the issue persists, the next option would be to Reset All Settings. This takes all settings back to default, including Wi-Fi networks and passwords, alerts, notifications, brightness, wallpaper, and sounds. This will also remove your Apple Pay cards. Even though no content is lost with this step, it's always a good idea to back up first. If you don't have a recent backup, use the following link for assistance if needed.
How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
Once you've successfully backed up, Reset All Settings in Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings.
Have a great day!

Sep 21, 2016 10:05 AM in response to sterling rby ForcedEuphoria,Restarting multiple times did not fix this for me. I have an iPhone 7 Plus and double clicking the home button with a finger that is touch ID activated opens the device and takes me to the home screen. Double clicking with a non-touch ID finger only displays the "try again" error and nothing pops-up. This is also happening on my roommate's iPhone 6S.

Sep 25, 2016 7:08 AM in response to JPMainby Rupert Wilcox,Doing these trouble shooting steps does NOT work. The finger print unlocks the phone instead of opening Apple Wallet. Especially on iPhone 6s and iPhone 7 where the finger print scanner reads your fingerprint at lightening speeds. The only way I've gotten it to work is to use a finger that isn't part of Touch ID.
