Messages app keeps quitting?

Starting today, my Messages app has begun to quit repeatedly after I open it from Launchpad. I removed it from the dock earlier on, but after I click on it in Finder, the application opens, it shows up on the dock for a good 3-4 seconds, then closes again and disappears from the dock. Any help?
