Q: Predictive emoji isn´t working

Hi!

Today  I updated my iPhone 5S to iOS 10 and I noticed that when writing simple words like "apple" or "hi!" they don´t get "emojified". I have an iPad mini 2 with iOS 10 too and the predictive emojis shows up.

I did a little search and found this...

https://www.igeeksblog.com/predictive-emoji-not-working-in-ios-10-on-iphone-ipad /

.... but nothing seems to work.

Anybody knows how to fix this?

Thanks!!!

I'm having the same problem. I even tried resetting All Settings. No luck.

I too went through all the steps multiple tries, with multiple resets, but still the predictive emoji feature will not work.

If I manually go to the emoji keyboard, words will turn orange and I will be able to replace them, just not as a predictive feature. Very annoying to say the least. I have an iPhone SE.

    Exactly the same for me!

my wife's 6S is predicting emojis when writing words like "tennis" but mine will not predict emojis - and I've tried setting all dictionaries, removing the emoji keyboard etc as per online suggests - can anyone at Apple shed some light on this bug?

For some cosmic reason now the predictive emojis are working. I just tried the iMessage app and played with it some minutes and then went to Whatsapp to answer a conversation and voila! it started working.

You should try doing the same thing. it may work for you as well.

Enjoy iOS 10, which is running great and even faster than iOS 9 on my iPhone 5S.

I had the same problem. Found the solution elsewhere in the forums.

Send yourself a few messages with loads of emojis in them (using the emoji keyboard).

After a few of those messages it'll start working!

just tried this, put about ten emojis in a message to myself, hit send, then opened a new message and the predictive emojis are now working...  thanks for the tips, its kinda crazy that this fixes it but I'll take it

That is absolutely the craziest thing. I've tried a half dozen varying resets over three different articles and THAT is what worked. As an aside I have noticed that iMessenger takes a LOT longer to open that it ever has.

Not only did I try all of the fixes but chatted with Apple Support last night (9/14/16) for over an hour and no help at all. First person refused to even acknowledge my statement, "predictive emojis not working". Gave me the lesson about putting in a word and touching emoji button on keyboard. I already knew that. I kept having to remind support on chat that my problem was "predictive emojis not working". Really? I was then put through to a Senior Advisor who was also unable to help me. Who also needed to be reminded that "PREDICTIVE EMOJIS NOT WORKING". The Senior Advisor told me to go into general>keyboard>text replacement and add words and their corresponding emojis. He said that my phone needed to learn the emojis and that's why it wasn't working. Are you kidding? My sister has an iPhone 6. It didn't need to learn anything. She NEVER uses emojis. It just worked the way it's supposed to work on her phone. Please, Apple, just admit there's a problem and say you're looking into it. Don't waste our time with BS.

Thank you for figuring this out. has been driving me nuts. just did it and now it recognizes the words that correspond to emojis.
