iMessage app will not open after iOS 10 update

my message app will not open on my iPhone 6 running iOS 10.0.1 after the update. I click the app and it stays on a white screen then goes back to the home screen. If I try to go to the settings and select iMessage settings it stays with the iMessage line highlighted but doesn't open up the settings for it. I then attempted to restart the phone and it go bricked (stuck on the apple logo) took 3 restores to get it back and iMessage still won't load. And the phone overall is running extremely slow and laggin. And with messages I do get notifications of new messages but can't open the app
