Q: Cannot Restore Backup error while I try to restore my iPhone via iCloud

I wanted to update to iOS 10 today from iOS 9.3.5 and backed up my iPhone via iCloud drive WITHOUT selecting any of the app data.

I have been trying to restore my iPhone for entirety of today via the phone itself through the latest back up but it just won't go through. Keep getting this 'Cannot Restore Backup' error multiple times. Have tried restoring through older backups too.

Also just a word up as i'm not sure if this is influencing the restore in anyway – I have previously downloaded certain apps from another apple ID and it does ask password request for it but yet it no solution. Tried the other way of skipping this too - keeps failing.

Can't seem to restore via iTunes either - shows a much older back up date.
