Q: Activity sharing not working at all

I'm having problems with activity sharing. I have two friends, both are on iOS 10 and watchOS3. I can add them, they get the notification and agree and then NOTHING happens. The wheel in the activity app on iOS keeps spinning and spinning. Anyone experienced this? Tried to delete the invitations and re-submit, but not working either.

Apple Watch, watchOS 3

I have tried pairing/unpairing at least 6 times.  Cannot get it to work.  When I invite someone, I just get the spinning indicator and nothing happens.  Frustrating.

I have same problem as everyone. I have been on the phone over several days with the same Sr Advisor at Apple and he is great! He really is trying to fix the issue and is sending all the info back to the engineers. Today we figured out it is one of my apple ID's causing the problem. I use one to buy stuff and one on my phone. We deleted the one on my phone and put in the other; then we asked my daughter to share and it worked ! We put my old ID back on phone( so I would have everything the same as it always was) and he is telling engineers the latest info. So still not fixed, but much closer now that we know it is not the watch or the phone. I will report back when I get it all straightened out.

My Apple ID was an old email that I don't even have access to anymore, so I changed it, and the activity sharing works now! I'm thinking this is an Apple ID/iCloud issue

Well, when I look at Settings>iCloud my email address is neither @me.com or @icloud.com (it's a company email). But when I look at my Apple Watch in the >Devices column, it still shows up as watchOS 2.2.1 - I think that's the main culprit here. On my Settings>General>About of my Watch, it does show watchOS 3.0.

Don't know how to get the iPhone iOS 10 to figure out that my Watch was updated to 3.0....

    Any ideas?

PS: Also did unpair/pair watch (long process), and nothing changed.

Also on iCloud.com, my Watch is being identified as running OS 2.2.1.... Bizarre!

I have successfully fixed the same problem. Unpair and re-pair did not work at all for me.

I changed my Apple ID email address and it worked !

I didn't have to sign out of iCloud so therefore my none of my data came off my phone. Just visit the manage your Apple ID page, and change the email address. Don't forget to sign out of the App Store and sign back in with your new Apple ID details.

By the way you can't use an email address ending in me.com or iCloud.com, don't know why. You can always create a free gmail account like I did.

Just tried it, still shows as WatchOS 2.2.1, and activity sharing is not happening. Maybe it takes a few hours?

Is it your iPhone that says 2.2.1 ?

Yes, the iPhone's iCloud Preferences pane and the Apple ID page that shows the different hardware I own indicated the Watch is on 2.2.1.

The Watch app on the iPhone shows that the watch is on 3.0.

I just got the problem solved, thanks to apple support guy Paul. He has been back and forth with me for days trying things after talking to the apple engineers. A few days ago we figured out if I signed out of icloud on my phone and used another ID the sharing worked. I was put back into my old id just until he confirmed this action with the engineers and so I didn't lose all my contact info etc.

So today he had me sign out of icloud, then resign in with my same id but instead of the email ending in "me.com", I typed in "icloud.com" Everything in front of the @ stayed the same( my name). Sharing worked right away and I don't have to change anything.

Obviously there is a bug that doesn't recognize "me.com"  even though we were always told that me.com, icloud.com and mac.com were the same.

    Mine also says the same.

Have you tried changing the email address you use for your Apple ID ?
