Q: Activity sharing not working at all

I'm having problems with activity sharing. I have two friends, both are on iOS 10 and watchOS3. I can add them, they get the notification and agree and then NOTHING happens. The wheel in the activity app on iOS keeps spinning and spinning. Anyone experienced this? Tried to delete the invitations and re-submit, but not working either.

Apple Watch, watchOS 3

My sharing is working and this shows my watch is at watchOS 2.2.1.

Yup, I did a @gmail and signed out of iCloud and out of App Store then back in with my new id. Didn't change a thing.

When my friend saw this, he force quit the the activity app on the phone and the invite was accepted. Sharing didn't initially work so he deleted sharing and I sent him another invite at which point it worked.

OK thanks @gadgetvirtuoso, this means that even if it shows watchOS 2.2.1 Activity Sharing should still work.

So I won't just focus on that aspect to figure out a solution...

You have to admit it's strange...

Shame, I thought that I had figured it out.

Are you signed into iMessage ?

Also, have you resent a new Sharing request since changing your Apple ID email ?

Yes, and it was the old Apple ID address. Just sent another invitation, waiting to see if it'll work this time...

Nope, it just doesn't work at all.

    I give up.

The person I'm trying to share with has also rebooted his phone, unlinked his watch and killed the app But no luck. I can successfully share with my daughter but no one else. Pleae help with a solution.

Try my solution above it seems to have worked for a few people.

Change the email address that is your Apple ID log back into iCloud on your phone and resend the invite.

Just fixed this on mine and a friends. Unpair the Apple Watch, then re-pair it. Give it a minute or two to reload everything. Has worked for both of us.

Ok, but this is a workaround to the problem, not a fix.  I did the above, and Activity sharing started working.  However, several days later, the problem has resurfaced.  I see Apple have approved your solution, but I really hope they don't think this is an end to it.  There's a bug in there that needs fixing.

As I already mentioned this problem was fixed by apple support after several days of trying different things. What worked was simply not using "me.com" for my apple ID. I changed to "icloud.com" and all my sharing worked
