I am from India with Indian accent. I do not know if this is this problem. My accent is not that bad.
I turned on whatsapp app support on siri settings. I am using iOS 10 with all apps updated.
I tried in speaking all the ways. It is always typing what's up rather than Whatsapp.

This appears to be a problem when the Siri language is set to "English (India)" in Settings.
I tried setting the Siri language to "English (United States)" and it recognises Whatsapp in my Indian accent quite easily.
What a contradiction, eh?
Quite helpful. But I wish to keep this set as English (India). Apple should check their AI neural learning on this asap.
