Q: Pages App not working on iPhone 5s

Pages App frozen on my iPhone 5s, I think it happened while downloading an update, the caption below the App says "Waiting...." I've tried deleting the App but it wont let me. I've reset the phone several times but no joy.

    Try to log out of the App Store and log back in. In case it does not help, you can connect your iPhone to the computer and install the update on your computer and then sync your iPhone.

    I Tried logging out of the App Store and log back in, No joy. I connected my iPhone to the computer and installed the update on my computer and then synced my iPhone, it said it would not install the Pages App as I needed to update my iOS, im currently on iOS 9.3.5 and am not prepaired to update to iOS 10.0.1 due to all the adverse comments.

    My wife and daughter have iPhone 6 Plus and iphone 6 S  Plus on iOS 9.3.5 and Pages works OK so it seems to be just my 5 S that has this problem.

    Is this just another Apple ploy to get people who have a perfectly good phone to spend a fortune on a new iPhone 7.
