Q: Apple ID Frustrations
I've just received 2 emails for 2 separate Apple IDs ... "You have enabled two-factor authentication for your Apple ID". I haven't enabled on either account. It says that I will need my password & the 6-digit verification code to sign wef 27Sep16 if I do nothing or "click here to turn 2 factor authentication off" (the only link in the email is to: "https://iforgot.apple.com/withdraw?key=..." which looks legit). So overall it seems like a scam email but the link seems ok. Looking at the accounts I don't think that the additional authentication is active ... (I changed a security question so I can't view or make other changes for 3 days ... boy!) - but I'm left wondering if the email is a scam then what's it purpose; if it isn't then am I missing something when I look at my account and will it all stop working after 27/09/16?
I used to spend a lot of money on apple products, iTunes etc ... but Apple make it so hard ... I don't get the same problems with Amazon.
Has anyone else received a similar email out-of-the-blue?
Thanks.
BTW - I've given up trying to post this to a sensible community/category ... I lost the will to live trying. So I'm just posting it randomly to whatever it lets me.

You can go the official Apple web site for managing your Apple ID, directly from your web browser
Sign in there, and check there if the additional security method has been enabled for your Apple ID.
