Bug: iOS 10, Siri invades lock screen even with the setting off

iOS 10, Siri invades lock screen even with the setting off

Ever since upgrading to iOS 10 (iPhone 5S) siri pops up whenever i try to unlock my phone because i'm not used to this way of unlocking yet. But siri on lock screen is off in the settings. I can shut off siri all together but i don't see that as an option.

Is this a bug in iOS 10 or am i missing something?

Hello nick_ve,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

I see that ever since you have upgraded to iOS 10, Siri starts whenever you try to unlock your iPhone, and Siri on the lock screen is off in Settings. I completely understand, as when I upgraded it took me a few tries to get adjusted to unlocking with the Home button. I'm more than happy to assist you with this.

Pressing down once on the Home button on your iPhone 5s will unlock the screen, and holding down for more than 1 second will activate Siri. It's good to keep that in mind when you are unlocking your iPhone.

There's also a alternate solution that I would like to share with you. You can turn this option off in Settings > General > Accessibility > Home Button. Turn on Rest Finger to Open. You can open the iPhone with Touch ID, without having to press the Home button.

Have a wonderful day!

Same problem whatever I do if I hold the home button down that unwanted voice control starts up and I have tried everything to turn it off must be a big bug in 10. Oh and I do not have Siri in my general setting so can anyone please tell me how I can fix this bug. Yes its easy to hold the home button for that fraction of a second to many and there is nothing more irritating then that blue screen that to me reminds me of the blue screen of death back in my PC days.

Hi, I had this too and I have no iPhone with Touch-ID. Therefore the workaround told by Joseph_S doesn't work for me. Out of several websites I finally got it.

If SIRI is turned off (Settings > Siri) you will have the option "voice call" in Settings > Code. If you turn this off, a longer press on the button in the lock screen will let the voice call screen appear but nothing can be done with it.

If SIRI is turned on (Settings > Siri) an option "access on lock screen" is present. Turn it off and additionally deactivate the option "Siri" in Settings > Code. Now the option "voice call" disappears on the page and the "blue screen" is gone.

I think they need to add the option "Siri" in Settings > Code independently of Siri itself turned on or off.

I turned Siri on made sure access on lock screen was disabled then turned Siri off and if I hold the home button down a fraction of a second to long up pops the useless and unwanted 'voice control" so nothing as changed here for me anyway

Sorry pr1uk,

maybe I didn't wrote it clear enough or maybe it is because of my german menu 😕. Let me try again:

1. go to "Settings > Siri" and turn on "Siri"

2. stay in "Settings > Siri" and turn off "Access on Lock Screen"

3. go to "Settings > Passcode" and turn off the option "Siri" in the section "ALLOW ACCESS WHEN LOCKED:"

4. Now go to the lock screen and try again 😉

It worked for my iPhone 5C.
