Cannot delete corrupt backup

I have a 1st Gen iPod Touch. Running iTunes 12.4.3.1. When syncing I get the message that the backup is corrupt or not compatible with ipod and to delete the backup. Problem: there is no backup to delete. I see backups for my iPod Nano and my iPad Mini. No iPod Touch in sight. Is there a fix for this?
