USB Midi devices not recognised
Maybe someone can help.
I have recently lost use of midi devices on my mid 2012 macbook Pro. OS 10.8.5 is installed. They are powered over USB and register in system profiler, but are not recognised by AudioMidi setup.
Also my iphone 5 will charge but is no longer recognised.
My RME Babyface Pro (USB Audio and Class Compliant mIdi) will run audio, but is not recognised as a midi device in AudioMidi setup.
Since I have had the machine, the rear USB port (nearest the screen) would run a USB 3 HD but not USB 2 devices. The near port would run anything, until recently.
My ilok 2 has never been recognised.
Currently, USB 2 devices such as thumb drives, hard drives, audio interfaces (audio only), work on the near port, and only USB 3 devices work on the rear port. No midi devices or the iphone are recognised.
I have tried solutions such as, swapping cables, confirming devices work on other computers, removing Midi Drivers from Library, trashing audio prefs from user/Library, SMC reset, PRAM reset, trashing and creating new profiles in AudioMidi setup.
I will shortly try a powered USB 2.0 hub.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.
