iOS 10 mail app move all/trash all

I just upgraded my iPad Air 2 to iOS 10. It appears as though the 'move all' and 'trash all' functionality has been removed from the mail app. When I view either of my inboxes (I have both iCloud and gmail accounts) and tap edit, only 'Mark All' is enabled. 'Move' and 'Archive' (gmail) / 'Trash' (iCloud) are both greyed out.

In iOS 9 (still installed on my iPhone), 'Move all' and 'Archive All' (gmail) / 'Trash All' (iCloud) are enabled when I tap Edit from either inbox.

Has Apple removed this functionality in iOS 10 or changed the way it is accomplished?

They haven't changed this, yet.

AND, I suspect this won't change in iOS 11.

If you read most of this posting, I have already mentioned a great alternative iOS email client instead of default iOS Mail app.

It's called simply

EMail

by Edison (formerly Easilydo) Software.

Email - Fast & Secure mail for all Accounts by Edison Software Inc.

See my solution for this on the previous page of this post.

If you want your delete all back, as well as, a few really cool bells and whistles that will make you email life easier, go to iOS App Store for an email app simply called

Email

Email - Fast & Secure mail for Gmail iCloud Yahoo on the App Store

This email app supports many other email services, now.

Honesrly, Apple‘s engineering decision to remove the select all/ mark all / delete all function is so illogical from a practical standpoint it makes one have to serious question if there is a profit motive behind such seeming insanity.... specifically if they make users have to be inefficient wrt managing their email it inevitably will have a certain number of users have to purchase more icloud or phone GB space to service the inevitable space needs associated with no longer being able search group and group delete target emails. Seems like such a basics functional need yet it has fallen on deaf and irresponsive ears....

I really think all the late night talk show host should make a comedy shame/blaming Apple into reversing this decision.... I can see it now Jimmy Kimmel pulls out his Iphone and beginnings by asking “anybody else having angst over have now 23000 plus emails in their inbox with no way to effectively efficiently remove them?!”

There are 3rd party email client options for iOS that have the features you need/crave.

I've mentioned only one, but it's the ONLY third party email client that closely mimics pre-iOS 10 Mail app and brings back that Delete All function and much more.

I have been using recommended third party email app since iOS 10 Mail app got rid of this function.

Third party iOS email client apps are available.
