Workaround: Add "Screenshot" action to AssistiveTouch

    - open Settings | Accessibility | Customize Top Level Menu

    - click on one of the existing icons (or add a new one)

    - chose "Screenshot"

This answer omits some steps (in bold):

    - open | Settings | General | Accessibility | AssistiveTouch

    - Customize Top Level Menu

    - click on one of the existing icons (or add a new one)

    - chose "Screenshot"

    - return to AssistiveTouch

    - turn AssistiveTouch ON. A new icon appears floating above the rest of the items on your display.

    - tap the icon to open the Top Level Menu that you just customized.

    - tap the Screenshot icon. The Top Level Menu vanishes and the screen flashes to indicate a screenshot has been taken.

It's working but the timing is very sensitive. Used to be I could hold down the power button and then press home. Now in iOS 10 I need to hit the home button within a fraction of a second of pressing power, otherwise it's like pressing home by itself.

Indeed, just push the home and power button simultaneously and very fast.. try a few and the good old picture shutter click will work..

Since upgrading to iOS 10, the screenshot feature works intermittently. One day it worked everytime; today it won't work at all.  So it has to be more than sensitive timing. Is there going to be a fix for this?

Power and Home button does not work.

    Tried it several times.

The workaround for this is the post from Thomasz O.

This should be fix the soonest.

Its all about timing. Try a few times to press both buttons simultaneously. I have trained mu fingers now :-)

I still say this is a timing issue and it does work. But I have experienced other issues, e.g. the non-appearance of the on-screen volume indicator when pressing the volume buttons. This was fixed by a power off and on. So as always, make sure you try that before you conclude something is completely broken. I often find that after OS updates, it helps to do one more reboot beyond the one that performed the upgrade install.

I tried all of the things you mentioned and the screenshot works only intermittently. It is broken and needs to be repaired. The repair may have something to do with increasing the timing so that it will be more reliable when requested, but it is broken.  I have no problems with the volume window... maybe that may be due to my numerous reboots.

Now that I've fixed my setting as Victor mentioned on the 15th, I'm not having any problems with the screenshots.  You have to press the Home button REALLY quickly to make the screenshots work OK.

    Hi All,

Press the Power button first, then press the Home button!

It's the reverse of what we used to do

    No need to install anything

It's not the reverse of how I used to do it... I always pressed power first because (a) power by itself doesn't do anything unless you hold it down a while, and (b) home by itself will either take you to home screen, or start Siri if you hold it too long. I used to be able to hold power for a good second before hitting home to get the screen shot. Now I have to be almost simultaneous to get a screen shot. I can't see any reason it should require such tight timing of presses now.
