I am trying to reinstall OSx Yosemite

I am trying to reinstall OSX El Capitan by the approved method but keep getting offered OSX Maverick. Why is that?

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4)

Are you restarting using command - R? If you are using command - option/alt - R, you are booting into Internet Recovery which installs the OS the computer shipped with.

Or, to add to Eric's post, you did use Command+R, but do not have a Recovery HD which then defaults Command+R to Internet Recovery (Command+Option+R).
