I have iPad mini 2, just upgraded to iOS 10 yesterday. When I have clicked on a specific email to read, it seems that the navigation arrows on the top left of the screen that allowed you to move to the next or previous email are gone. Is this a bug? Or a new feature? It seems that email navigation will be impaired without those arrows!

You're right, it's gone. I usually use my mini in the landscape orientation (wider than it is tall) so always have a message list on the left so I've never cared about the arrows.
On the iPod and presumably phone there is still left and right arrows to browse through mails.
Is there no way to bring the previous/next arrows back? I generally read emails on the iPad in portrait mode, and now an extra tap and visual scan is required to navigate to the next or previous email. How is this an improvement?
Someone must think it is.
You can leave Apple feedback and let them know how you feel. They won't respond but you can at least have your opinion registered

I continue to hope it is a screwup not a feature.
